Chapter Ten
AFTER CHRISTMAS WE were summoned again, but this time it was to discuss practical details and there were certainly plenty of these which we had not even considered. As well as a driver's licence, Duncan would require what was called a Tramway Familiarity Certificate. Furthermore Duncan, who was actually eighteen, had to be at least twenty-five to qualify for the licence, but here we decided to rely on his appearance since the fact was that with his greying hair he looked about thirty. Just to be on the safe side, we altered the date on his birth certificate with the help of a little ink eradicator.
